Instagram introduces 'Nametag' an easier way to add friends on the platform

Instagram launched a new nametag feature that allows users to connect with their friends easily. The feature has been launched for Instagram users globally and makes it more convenient to add friends in person. In addition, the Facebook-owned platform introduced a new school communities feature in the US to help students connect with others from their university right in the app.
Instagram nametag is a customisable identification card that allows users to find others profile when it is scanned. The nametag is unique to individual users and makes it faster to add people and accounts you meet in person. To use nametag, users need to go to their profile on the app, tap the button with three lines at the top, and select 'Nametag'.

Instagram users can personalise their nametag by touching anywhere on the screen or by tapping the button at the top to try other designs such as colours, emojis and selfies with different stickers. To scan a nametag, users can swipe either right into the camera, hover the nametag and hold down on the screen or enter the camera by tapping 'scan a nametag'. Users can share their nametag with friends through social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.
"Instagram school communities let you show off your school spirit and connect with other students and recent grads from your university in a common space. We’re testing this feature in a variety of schools across the US," the company said in a blog post," Instagram said in a blog post. Nametag is available globally on both Android and iOS starting today. School communities is currently testing in some US universities and will be able to others in the coming weeks.
